UWC Dilijan College is the first educational institution in Eastern Europe and the CIS to become a member of United World Colleges. The technologically advanced buildings of the college were designed and built according to BREEAM green building standards.

Project

The first phase of UWC Dilijan College includes the main school building with state-of-the-art equipment for holding classes, sports and medical centers, a football field, volleyball and basketball courts, tennis courts, student housing, a multifunctional center and other buildings.

RD Construction’s specialists undertook a number of measures to ensure the school’s safety in the case of earthquakes or landslides. As a result the buildings of the complex are capable of withstanding a 9.0 magnitude earthquake.

    The construction of UWC Dilijan College was carried out in difficult climatic and hydrogeological conditions, including in a seismically active zone, in the presence of ground water and on steep slopes.

TECHNOLOGIES

The high quality of construction work performed, the complexity of the tasks undertaken and the professionalism of the project team allowed the company to introduce international standards in construction and project management to Armenia. The planning expertise of RD Construction’s specialists made it possible to increase the useable area of the buildings, reduce the construction timeframe and optimize budget expenditures, which as a result were decreased by $5 million.

INVESTMENT

At the time of opening, investment in the UWC Dilijan College project totaled $115 million. It is estimated that the second phase of construction will require another $75 million in investment.

The construction of the international school in Dilijan is an anchor project which will change the region’s life for the better, attracting young, creative and socially active people from different countries to Armenia
