The amount of waste increases in proportion to improvements in living standards. This motivates building contractors to look for new ways of addressing the litter handling problem in multi-family houses. One of the best options is the system of sunken storage containers (buried tanks) used by RD Construction in the development of residential quarters in Skolkovo IC. CEO RD Construction Ilya Baybus described this system in more detail in his interview for Vedomosti.
THE TECHNOLOGY OF SUNKEN RUBBISH BINS CAME TO RUSSIA FROM FINLAND SEVEN YEARS AGO AND BECAME MOST WIDESPREAD IN ST. PETERSBURG WHERE MORE THAN 350 FACILITIES IN THE CITY AND SUBURBS USE THE EXPERIENCE OF THEIR NEIGHBORS. A SIMILAR SYSTEM IS ALSO SET UP AT OLYMPIC FACILITIES IN SOCHI. THE VERY SYSTEM IS COMPRISED OF AN UNDERGROUND STORAGE CONTAINER AND A SMALL-SIZE ABOVEGROUND PART. PLACED IN THE STORAGE CONTAINER IS A REUSABLE BAG FROM HIGH-STRENGTH POLYPROPYLENE FABRIC WITH A LATCH MECHANISM ON THE BOTTOM (RUN WITH A WIRE ROPE). IT TAKES TWO MINUTES TO UNLOAD THIS CONTAINE
Separation of waste has been also designed in Skolkovo residential quarters. Small-size containers will be dug in the ground. The exterior of storage containers is fit into any architectural solutions while their structure prevents the access of birds or animals to waste and significantly decreases the probability of accidents (it’s impossible for kids to fall down there and so on).
We should remind that RD Construction set to the construction of residential quarters Tetris, Miro and Quadro in the D2 Technopark district back in 2015. These neighborhoods became the first residential projects in the territory of Skolkovo IC. Business and social infrastructure will be accommodated in the neighborhood besides residential buildings.
